Zonnebloem Renamed

Haroon Gunn-Salie of the 89Plus speakers shared a worked that he produced last year to highlight the fact that although residents of District 6 are returning to neighbourhood, their address still reads that they now live in Zonnebloem – the name given to the area under the apartheid rule. 

Zonnebloem renamed is a site-specific work that see Gunn-Salie changing street signs throughout the city from Zonnebloem to District 6, using vinyl stickers. 

Gunn-Salie revived this ongoing project especially for Design Indaba.
