Sandhya Lalloo on redefining fashion design

Sandhya Lalloo’s work looks at the spiritual experience of designing clothing.

As an emerging South African fashion designer, Sandhya Lalloo was tired of emulating other people's designs. She draws inspiration for her clothing label, Sin, from Japanese designers, like Issey Miyake. In redefining her own style, Lalloo journeys through the minds of creative masters, from Dali to Van Gogh and Ma Ke. Her design is a unique interpretation of what everybody else is also seeing. She also talks about concepts like anti-fashion and deconstruction.
