London-based design duo BarberOsgerby will be presenting new designs at the Milan Furniture, taking place from 12 to 17 April 2011.
Tip Ton is a new chair, designed for Vitra, that offers a dual-function seating experience. From a resting point the chair is able to tilt forward until the sitter reaches a set point in the forward position. The chair works on a nine-degree tilt created by the rounded shape of the chair’s floor skids.
The forward position of the chair allows the sitter to move closer to a table with their spine remaining straight. “We realised that creating dynamic movement in a chair can actually help a person’s concentration,” says Jay Osgerby.
Tip Ton gets the a thumbs-up from the Greenies as its made from 100% recyclable polypropylene. It also helps that it weighs just 4.5kg, is easily stackable and makes very little noise when moved around.
The Map Table was also designed for Vitra. The trapezoidal-shaped work surface of the table allows for it position in a rounded-formation, ideal for meeting or simply as individual desks for a workplace environment.
