Smart Forest City is a sustainable mini city in Mexico

It is energy self-sufficient and greened to the max - 362 hectares of planted surfaces will play home to 120 000 plants from 350 different species.

This new Smart Forest City in Mexico sets a precedent for environmentally-conscious urban planning. It was developed by Italian architect, Stefano Boeri Architetti for Grupo Karim’s.

Water is a big theme within the new city and its development of a circular economy. 

“The use of water, (one of the project’s key elements) which is collected at the entrance to the city in a large dock and a desalination tower and then subsequently distributed via a system of navigable canals allowing its distribution throughout the inhabited areas and the irrigation of the surrounding agricultural fields.” 

Another big theme is mobility. It is said to have a highly developed transport system which is solely electric and semi-automatic.
