Six point two

The second part of Stiaan Louw’s Six series examines shifting male sexuality in an African context.

Recently launched at the Johannesburg Fashion Week, part two of Stiaan Louw’s "Six" series explores various themes in a more narrative way and with a distinct romantic feel. See part one here.

Working with the concept of mirrors and reflection to loosely tie it to the Greek myth of Narcissus, it is also an exploration of the modern African aesthetic.

Looking specifically at shifting male sexuality and the understanding of masculinity in modern and African culture, the series incorporates hand-embroidery and a modern bou-bou look.

Fibrebrick red often associated with Masaai culture, combined with Missibaba accessories, was also made to work in the shoot.

The model for this campaign is Eric Bester from Boss with styling by Michael Cooper, and hair and makeup by Laura Kingma, both from OneLeague. All photography by Antonia Steyn.
