Pottering around

Design Indaba Expo exhibitor, the Potter's Workshop recently collaborated with Swedish firm studio Glimpt.

From the Series

The Forbidden Fruit collection of lights is the result of a creative collaboration between local craft outfit The Potter's Workshop and Swedish designers Mattias Rask and Tor Palm of studio Glimpt.

Comprising a series of bright, jewel-like lights with ceramic shades, the Forbidden Fruits range also incorporates wood in the design.

The painted details on the ceramic shaded represent strawberry pips while the light cords are fitted with colourful discs in various layers, which are made to sit on top of the shades.

In addition to the pendant lights, The Potter's Workshop and Glimpt also created a floor lamp.

Glimpt were keen to work with crafters in the developing world, with the aim of combining design and craftsmanship in a way that would ensure the crafters still got their fair share of the selling price.
