O my

The new “O” watch by Issey Miyake reflects the environmental surroundings of the wearer.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Issey Miyake watch project the Japanese designer launched the new “O” watch. Developed by Seiko Instruments Inc, the watch was launched in March 2011 and is expected to be released in July.

Subtitled Shape of Water – Transparent Time, the “O” refers to water in French, eau. The watch appears to have been sculpted from water, with a look reminiscent of time itself and fully embracing the wrist of the wearer.

Made with a special transparent plastic material, the smooth curvature of the bangle part of the watch focuses one’s eyes on the mirror finish of the body. In this way scenes of the surroundings are reflected in the watch and so gradually blends into the environment, “as if disappearing the form of itself”.
