New CEO for CT Fashion Council

The Cape Town Fashion Council has appointed a new CEO. Bryan Ramkilawan believes in an inclusive approach.

The Cape Town Fashion Council (CTFC) recently announced the appointment of Bryan Ramkilawan as the organisation’s new CEO.

Having served on the CTFC’s board for the past four years, Ramkilawan is looking forward to expanding existing partnerships and furthering the CTFC's aims of representation, develop and support in grow for the Western Cape fashion sector.

Ramkilawan takes office on 1 May 2011 and will be following an inclusive approach, building on the foundation first laid in 2006. CTFC represents some 400 members which includes local fashion brands and industry stakeholders throughout the clothing and textile value chain.

After studying fashion design in KwaZulu-Natal Ramkilawan lectured at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He sits on the steering committee of the East City Design Initiative called The Fringe. Ramkilawan was also a board member and trustee for the Shaun Borstrock Foundation for the Creative Industries, which fosters design partnerships between South Africa and the United Kingdom. Ramkilawan was a founding member of the CTFC in 2006. He served as vice-chairman and executive committee member in 2009 and 2010, and fashion academic chairman from 2008 to 2010.
