In combining some ancient wood-crafting techniques with a modern digital aesthetic, Matthias Pliessnig has created a bespoke piece of furniture.
The Amada bench is reminiscent of the curvaceous lines of a boat and the inherent beauty of fluid dynamics. The piece was designed as such to direct the sitter to face multiple directions due to the functions of the space in which the bench is intended for use. Made completely with air-dried, responsibly harvested white oak, and steam-bent in the construction process.
