Cape Town-based design partnership, Fabricate, have created a new bookend, which is a fresh take on a classic design.
The 2FOLD is laser cut from a 1.6mm thick powder-coated mild steel sheet. 2FOLD is bent in two places and rotated at an angle to provide enhanced stability while using less material. Here a structural consideration is expressed as an aesthetic feature.
For the designers it was a conscious decision to give the bookends more visual presence, as these are functional objects that are often hidden from view.
