The New York Times calls Matalie Crasset “the future-fabulous Parisian designer”. With a reputation like that her latest offering can only be inspiring. While Crasset is best known for her innovative take on things around the domestic realm, the new eco lodge she designed will have both design enthusiasts and tree huggers excited.
Dar Hi Eco House and Spa in southern Tunisia is a 17-unit facility that offers an interesting selection of accommodation options. There are the typical desert dwellings, named the Pill, Troglodyte and Dune, and then there are also more traditional rooms available.
Built using locally sourced palm wood and clay bricks, the complex gets the thumbs-up from the sustainability police. With a view of date groves and a salt lake, and with an organic vegetable garden, Dar Hi Eco House & Spa sounds like a must-do. And what better to do in the desert than idle away in a spa that comes custom-fitted with a geothermal hammam (Turkish bath).
