Christmas countdown

Eyal Burstein used a variety of vintage teacups, bowls and trinkets to create an advent calendar of different a creative calibre.

An advent calendar is a great way to generate excitement around Christmas. And who doesn’t like a special treat anyway?

The Andaz Hotel in London worked with conceptual product designer Eyal Burstein of Beta Tank to design an advent calendar with a twist, to make the countdown to Christmas more…umm… creative.

Burstein’s creation sees a large table in the hotel covered with vintage teacups, bowls and other beautiful trinkets. Each object has a different treat inside to be enjoyed in the days leading up to Christmas.

Flea markets, vintage and charity shops proved to be a valuable sourcing ground for the objects Burstein used for the “calendar”. He moulded the objects into an octagonal shape on the hand-made resin table.

Each day leading up to Christmas, the Andaz pastry chef created a different treat for guests and served it with hot drinks to get the festive spirit going.
