Sissel Tolaas can interchangeably be described as a “scent expert” or “odor artist”. The Berlin-based creative explores olfaction, or the sense of smell. Tolaas works with the odor molecules that our noses detect and looks at the language we use to describe our experiences of smell. Here Tolaas takes us around Cape Town, pointing to some of the interesting smells of the city and how we are able to understand emotions from a scent perspective.
