Daniel Ting Chong by Alasdair McCulloch

Filmmaker Alasdair McCulloch interviews illustrator Daniel Ting Chong about this work and his creative process.

Cape Town-based illustrator Daniel Ting Chong is the subject of Alasdair McCulloch’s film submission. McCullogh captures the essence of Ting Chong's work as well as his creative process and his ideas about the local design industry. Shot on a Canon 7D DSLR camera with a separate sound recorder, McCulloch says Ting Chong was keen to offer his own creative input too. The filmmaker also found his subject to be approachable and down-to-earth, and proof that “Cape Town’s graphic design scene is alive and kicking”.

This film was McCulloch's submission for the Design Indaba 2011 Film Crew selection. McCulloch is an editor, director of photography and visual effects artist. He has directed music videos for MK89 and was nominated for a Vuka Award in 2009.
