Stephen Burks recycles to inspire

Stephen Burks introduces Willard Musarurwa, founder and owner of Feeling African, a wire furniture design studio in Woodstock, Cape Town. He feels that teaching people to design using recycled materials is rewarding, empowering and helps disadvantaged people earn a living.

Design is about making things that can have a special connection to people, says Burks.

He talks about his work with local artisans in helping them transform raw materials into beautiful, marketable objects. Burks believes that we’re in a pluralistic time for design, and everybody is capable of making something... there are constantly many new ideas that play a role in creating new works.
