From the Series
Keith Rose talks about his work and his life in advertising over a period of about 30 years. He mentions the introduction of television to South Africa and the advertising and directing work that went with that, mostly with a strong retail focus.
"By the end of the 1970s, TV had gone commercial, but there were no such things as TV or film schools or even advertising schools – there was nowhere to learn the craft."
Rose shares his experiences of working on some of the most famous television commercials to ever come out of the South Africa.
Rose also talks about the changes that advertising underwent in the mid 1980s when cigarette ads were all the rage, and takes a nostalgic look at some of his favourite and most famous television commercials.
Rose's more recent work has a fresh and contemporary feel. He shares some of his very best commercials.
