Pretoria-based illustrator, Maggie de Vos, started out at The Open Window Institute where she studied visual communications. She then completed her honours degree on how humour functions in illustrations.
She's released a voucher booklet consisting of 20 illustrated phrases in a project titled Exchanging (Un)pleasantries. She says she created the project as a way to escape unwanted social interactions. This project forms part of a larger body of work entitled Bittersweet Bitterkak.
“I believe humour is an amazing social tool,” she says.
