Iina Vuorivirta

IKEA’s in-house designer Iina Vuorivirta has learned to challenge briefs and make use of waste materials.

During her studies at Lahti Institute of Design, Vuorivirta moved to Stockholm for a summer internship and wound up chatting with teachers from Beckmans College of Design.

Although she went back to Finland following the internship, that conversation with Beckmans teachers resulted in her moving back to Stockholm as an exchange student.

By the time Vuorivirta had graduated one and a half years later and joined IKEA later on.

She is one of the IKEA designers who collaborated with Design Indaba and others including Sindiso Khumalo and Bibi Seck on the ÖVERALLT collection.
