The Dutch design duo, StudioDRIFT, in collaboration with SCAD Lacoste, has unveiled Unfold, a mesmerizing multisensory AI installation. The immersive experience uniquely blends biology, ecology, and digital design to create a dynamic exploration of the connection between the human body and nature. The installation invites audiences to enter a deeply meditative sensory space where their biological patterns are harmonized with botanical visuals and an accompanying soundscape.
Unfold captures visitors’ real-time biometric data, such as heart rate and breathing patterns and translates these rhythms through AI into ever-changing audio-visual projections inspired by the local flora of the Provence region. Each interaction generates a personalized landscape of light, sound, and movement, reflecting the viewer’s physical and emotional state in the moment.
The project encourages reflection on the symbiotic relationship between humanity and our environment, revealing how life pulses through both body and nature and the interdependence of the relationship.
SCAD’s Chief Curator, Daniel S. Palmer, hails Unfold as a testament to meaningful artistic dialogue and innovation, predicting its lasting impact on students and visitors. DRIFT’s Unfold exemplifies how art, technology, and nature can harmonize to inspire awe, reflection, and a renewed sense of connection - StudioDrift.com
