From the Series
Nendo’s new shelving unit bears resemblance to tightly woven textiles or a playful paper chain.
Japanese design studio Nendo have designed a shelving unit made from interlocking wooden boards oriented to angles left and right.
“Fold” was made in collaboration with the superior craftsmanship of Conde House, a wooden furniture manufacturer in Asahikawa in northern Japan.
Made entirely out of wood, each joint appears seamless, and looking at the shelves it’s virtually impossible to know how the parts are connected.
The shelving unit is perfect for displaying ornamental decorations as well as books and magazines.
“Fold” will be on display along with Nendo’s “Splinter” collection of wooden furniture at Milan Furniture Fair form 9 to 14 April 2013.
