Populous and Oualalou + Choi have unveiled plans for what promises to be the largest football stadium in the world: the Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco. This monumental project is set to redefine sports architecture with a staggering capacity of over 115,000 spectators, surpassing the current record held by the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea.
The design is a marvel of modern engineering and aesthetic innovation. Populous, renowned for their expertise in designing iconic sports venues, has collaborated with the Moroccan firm Oualalou + Choi to create a stadium that is both grand and culturally resonant. The Grand Stade Hassan II will feature a striking, futuristic exterior inspired by Moroccan motifs, reflecting the country’s rich heritage while embracing cutting-edge design principles.
