The Nail Cloud by Dutch designer Ilias Ernst is a customisable lamp that is made from nails and magnets. The nails and magnets are positioned around a hanging light and works through the fact that the nails are attracted to each other with the help of the magnets.
The shape and size of the Nail Cloud can easily be modified by the user by simply moving the nails around the magnetic object or adding different metal objects to the magnet. The idea is that the nails float around the light bulb to create shade and to play with different forms of shadow and light.
In his Amsterdam studio Ernst creates unique, practical objects for everyday use, with everyday, affordable materials.
