Tea time

Scholten & Baijings' "Tea with Georg" collection interprets characteristics of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony for contemporary Western use.

From the Series

Exploring different textures, patterns and materials, Scholten & Baijings' latest tea set reveals a Western interpretation of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

“Tea with Georg” is a tea and cake tablewear service comprising a stainless steel teapot, tea warmer, porcelain cups and saucers, stainless steel espresso cup and saucer, milk jug, sugar bowl, cake stand, cake platter and individual porcelain dessert plates.

Taking inspiration from countless studies conducted by the Dutch designers on Japanese customs and tea rituals, Scholten & Baijings' tea service is reminiscent of olden-day Japanese tea ceremonies interpreted and infused with a contemporary Western twist.

Designed for Georg Jensen, the pieces highlight his skilful metalwork and high degree of precision, while the colour palette of the porcelain pieces reflect Schiolten & Baijings' love of colour.

“Tea with Georg” was on display at the 2013 Milan Furniture Fair
