Maud Bekaert is a letter carver from Belgium who noticed that letter carving was mostly an unknown craft form in South African.

For the past four years Bekaert has been training five young South Africans in this ancient art, and has helped them set up a workshop at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town.

These artisans can carve everything from house numbers to name plates, monuments and other personalised works.
