According to the judging panel at the World Architecture Festival 2015, Sanjay Puri Architects’ Reservoir is the future of contemporary office buildings. The structure was lauded as office category winner in the Future Projects division of the WAF competition.

The Reservoir office in the desert region of Rajasthan takes its cue from the distinctive, ancient stepwells popularised in the Western regions of India. The design, which will be built from locally sourced sandstone, follows the basic form of the traditional well, which is made up of a reservoir encompassed by a wall of descending stairs. Familiar with the region’s landscape and climate, Sanjay Puri Architects designed the structure so that each level of the office forms a step to the interior well.

Sanjay Puri Architects is an Indian architecture firm based in Mumbai. The firm is recognised for the diversity of its portfolio, which spans the globe and ranges from townships, schools and hotels, to retail and office buildings. Behind each of its designs is a commitment to innovative design solutions, large-scale sustainability and contextual relevance.
