IncuBra by Adam Fiannaca and Cynthia Verspaget is a wearable incubator. Designed as a corset, it uses the body as a laboratory site, bringing nurturing back into biology. The breasts are enhanced through inflatable bladders and through the restrictive compression of the garment in order to provide an area of nurturing warmth to the cells contained within the test-tubed cleavage nook. IncuBra inevitably inspired the artists’ current project, a complex and portable household object d’art incubator, which has affectionately been nick-named “the womb”.
