The Carrol Boyes Designer Search calls on aspiring designers to create a three-dimensional prototype for the METAL 2011 competition.
METAL 2011’s theme is “serviette holder” and encourages designers to “mess around” in coming up with a design for such a functional object.
Entrants do not need to have any particular design experience or qualification to enter the competition which closes on 30 June 2011. Simply “design a beautiful, innovative and functional product” in a three-dimensional prototype and submit it, along with a completed entry form, a copy of your ID and a one-page CV, to Carrol Boyes (Pty) Ltd.
Participants are encouraged to produce work that can viably be manufactured in aluminium, stainless steel or pewter, though these materials do not have to be used for the prototype.
The first prize winner gets R50 000 and the opportunity to work with the Carrol Boyes design and manufacturing team, along with the possibility of seeing their design go into production. Entry forms for METAL 2011 can be downloaded from http://metal.carrolboyes.co.za. Or contact metal@cbfa.co.za to have an entry form emailed or faxed to you.
