Material Mission

A flowing facade for South Korea's renowned textile manufacturer

The W‐Mission Headquarters, designed by Behet Bondzio Lin Architekten, is a project deeply rooted in the themes of spirituality and tradition. Located in Seongsu-dong, Seoul - a district that has since become an urban landmark for vibrant art, culture, and design in the Korean capital. The client, W-Mission, is a renowned textile manufacturer in South Korea with a strong character. The structure incorporates the concepts of sacredness, sanctuary, and community representing the spiritual character of the client. The building blends modern architectural techniques with traditional brick masonry.

The inspiration for the undulating façade is reflective of the ocean waves from the birthplace of W-Mission and the material properties of textiles, such as lightness, weaving patterns, and the flexibility of a fabric. - Behet Bondzio Lin Architekten

Collaborating with BCHO Architects for interior design, the project draws on the philosophy of connecting architecture with nature. The design emphasizes spirituality, using light and space to craft a serene atmosphere within the headquarters. The headquarters aims to be more than just a functional space—it is envisioned as a spiritual hub for its community, reflecting the firm’s respect for tradition, while incorporating sustainable practices.
