Martin Doller’s remarkable passion for designing products, furniture and contemporary lighting has quickly made him a distinguished name within the South African design community.
Martin Doller founded Martin Doller Design in 2011, and has since been making waves in the South African industrial design sector. Specialising in all aspects of product design and development, Doller prides himself in paying close attention to detail and using the best quality materials to ensure an exceptional and long-lasting product.
Keeping the user and the manufacturer in mind, Doller’s design process is successful and streamlined in creating and developing innovative design solutions that optimise function, aesthetics and value.
Design is a balance of proportion and form that does not compromise function and addresses the limitation of manufacture.
The Cape Town based industrial designer was part of the Design Indaba Emerging Creatives programme in 2012, and has since been committed to getting his Framed collection ready for retail. The pendant lights were exhibited at last year’s Expo and received an overwhelming response. The collection will be stocked in four flagship stores of Carrol Boyes as soon as they are completed.
Doller will be an exhibiter at the Expo in 2013 where he will launch his Framed collection in full. The lights are made out of aluminium anodised in black with a red, black or gold fabric chord. Each light will be fitted with a Philips LED Designer bulb that lasts for 15 years. Using 80% less energy than ordinary bulbs, Doller shows his commitment to promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly design future.
