Illustrations unlock the hero in every kid

Jason Ratliff’s work plays on imagination, wonder and play in his illustrated superhero series.

From the Series

Artist Jason Ratliff illustrates the wonder that lives in the imaginations of children in his new series Super Shadows. The Indiana-based graphic artist and art director taps into the love for superheroes to explore the hidden potential locked into every child.

The first piece inspired the series. Titled Hero, it depicted a child with the shadow of superman following behind him. It was so well received that Ratliff decided to make some more.

In each illustration, Ratliff depicts a child playing “pretend” alongside a colourful shadow of the superhero he or she is pretending to be.
