Happy feet

Good news for eco-conscious parents! Woolies have launched a new range of super cute children’s shoes made from recycled materials.

From the Series

The Eco Walkmates Recycled is Woolworths’s new collection of children’s shoes made using recycled materials.

This innovation is part of the retailer’s good business journey and their commitment to finding new ways of recycled, reusing and repurposing various materials. The materials used to make the shoes might otherwise have ended up on a landfill site.

The uppers and laces of the Eco Walkmates Recycled are made using fibre from recycled plastic: the uppers from plastic crates and the laces from PET bottles. Eighty percent of the soles were made with natural rubber while the rest comprises recycled rubber. The eyelets for the laces are made using aluminium from recycled cans, tins and aircraft parts.

An added extra is that the Eco Walkmates Recycled carry the approval of the South African Podiatry Association. They are available in styles for boys and girls, from sizes 4 to 11.
