The Eat Play Grow table is a project that aims to encourage children to grow and prepare their own food. At the same time the design works to education children about the importance of healthy living.
Designed by Ruth Vatcher, the Eat Play Grow table is a simple design that prioritises functionality. The table has a herb sprouting tray, a chopping board for food preparation, a watering pot and a felt storage system where the tools and utensils used to grow and prepare the food can be stored.
The idea is that that table gets placed in a child’s bedroom or the family kitchen and that learning then happens through play and helping out with food preparation on their own special work surface.
The Eat Play Grow table is made in a combination of oak wood and charcoal-coloured felt. Vatcher chose these materials to ensure that the design would remain versatile and timeless.
