Gravity free

Tokujin Yoshioka's Elements Collection incorporates the random beauty and harmony of nature while revealing innovation in metalwork.

As though free from gravity, Tokujin Yoshioka’s Elements Collection appears to balance precariously on angled stands.

Japanese product designer Yoshioka collaborated with Italian brand Desalto to create a collection of tables and chairs that reveal innovation in metalworking techniques.

The collection was born and developed from a series of experiments and research for Yoshioka’s on-going Crystallize project. TheTokujin Yoshioka - Crystallize exhibition is currently on show at the Museum for Contemporary Art, Tokyo, and will be open to the public until the 19th of January 2014.

Inspired by the natural crystal structure, the Elements Collection incorporates the random beauty and harmony of nature. Rather than standing upright, the oblong supports are tilted and appear to be balancing on top of one another.

The collection is available in black and was launched earlier this year.
