Goodbye to a South African wine legend

Wine pioneer and businessman extraordinaire, Graham Beck has sadly passed away at the age of 80.

Design Indaba's warmest condolences to the friends and family of wine legend Graham Beck. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness and generosity, and his support and interest in local design and thought leadership.

Beck died of cancer in London, with his wife of 50 years at his bedside. His body with be flown to Israel for burial. Beck enjoyed spending time at his home in Kensington during the worse parts of the Cape Town winter.

Known for operating one of the most modern and dynamic wine operations in South Africa, Beck was a forerunner in popularising Robertson as a wine region. Business continues as usual on his four farms in South Africa.

Beck's other interests and loves included golf, horseracing and investing time and capital into making South Africa a better place.
