Tord Boontje combines functionality and aesthetics to reinvent the experience of champagne drinking.
A collaboration between Dutch designer Tord Boontje and Perrier-Jouët has resulted in a nature-inspired design, which creates a fairytale-like experience while indulging in a glass of chilled bubbly.
“The Enchanted Tree” evokes symbols of mesmerised beauty and sophistication through its floral form and golden tree exquisiteness. The champagne service is made of suspended branches that can be used to hang the six champagne flutes, designed by Perrier-Jouët, at the base of an ice bucket to preserve the champagne’s temperature.
"I wanted to create a functional object that evokes emotions and dreams. Here, utility is beautiful and beauty is utility," says Boontje.
Made with a naturalistic approach to forging steel, “The Enchanted Tree” balances hand-worked craftsmanship with advancements in artistic technology. Each of the leaves are individually soldered and the petals lacquered in white.
