The classic foosball table gets a contemporary redesign

Brussels-based designer Alain Gilles has designed a contemporary high-end soccer table that takes its cues from the Scandinavian design tradition of simplicity.

The Pure is a modern reinterpretation of the classic foosball table. This foosball table was designed by Alain Gilles for Debuchy by Toulet, a new brand created by the football player Mathieu Debuchy, in collaboration with Toulet, the renowned French company that has manufactured billiards since 1857.

Gilles designed the foosball table with the Scandinavian tradition of simplicity in mind. The table features a sleek oak top and legs and an acrylic glass shell. The players and bars have been machined out of chromed aluminium.  With this modern update, the foosball table is as much a statement piece as it is a game.

“The Pure is the modern vision of a classic foosball table. The rules, the game, and the fun remain the same, but it has now been transformed into an object that can be displayed in a living room or in the lobby of a contemporary hotel for instance,” says Gilles. “The foosball doesn’t have to be hidden in the basement anymore and it is no more just for gaming centres or coffee shops.”
