Working in collaboration with Luxembourg architect Tetra Kayser, Foster + Partners will be designing the Royal Hamilius for the city, after winning an international competition.
The Royal Hamilius will comprise a mixed-use development in the city centre, with the objective to salvage and promote the urban fabric of the city while also creating an appropriate setting for the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the city. Department stores, offices, shops, apartments, and various social and civic spaces will characterise the development.
While the Royal Hamilius will serve as a gateway to historic parts of the city, the Hotel des Postes will be the backdrop to the civic square and place the development. The civic square will boast an ice skating rink, markets, cinemas and a venue for open air concerts.
