A cell phone designed to be used as little as possible

The Lightphone is a thoughtfully designed phone that allows you to be more connected to the moment.

From the Series

The Lightphone is an elegant, credit card-sized phone that links with your existing phone. It allows you to make and receive calls without being distracted or interrupted by the constant buzzes and beeps of social media and app alerts.

The Lightphone also has an exceptional battery life of up to 20 days, meaning that you can continue using it after your smartphone battery dies.

Counter to our ultra-connected culture, the Lightphone is designed to be used as little as possible. There is no Wi-Fi connectivity, no 3G, no voicemail service and no SMS. The Lightphone only makes and receives calls.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign, designers Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang, who met at Google's inaugural 30 week start-up incubator programme in 2014, say the Lightphone has gone into production and will be distributed in May 2016.
