Celebrating words

The "Back in 5 Minutes" exhibition showcases the diverse beauty in South African typography and illustration.

Celebrating design and typography, Ben Johnston’s Back in 5 Minutes exhibition is treating Cape Town audiences to a variety of award-winning work created by some of South Africa’s finest designers, typographers and illustrators.

Cape Town-based graphic designer, typographer and illustrator Ben Johnston has put together a type show to highlight the diverse talent in South African typography and illustration.

The custom typography and lettering show features work by Ben Johnston, Dani Loureiro, Clinton Cambell of Studio Muti, Clement De Bruin and Justin Southey. Together these local designers are showcasing a selection of printed, screen-printed, hand-printed and three-dimensional typography and lettering beauty.

Each artist has approached the discipline of typography in a fresh and unique manner, playing with scale, materials, surface quality, form, colour, dimensionality, and of course, words.

Back in 5 Minutes is on display at Salon91, 91 Kloof Street, Cape Town until 23 March 2013.
