Camping out

Camper and Jasper. It evens sounds comfortable. Now see the shoe that resulted from the collaboration.

From the Series

Stylish and hardworking is how one might describe Jasper Morrison’s new shoe design for Spanish brand Camper.

The Camper was the practical shoe of choice for Mallorcans of the late 1920s. The original Camper, the “Camaleon”, was a hand-stitched shoe made of tyre threads, canvas and hemp.

In 1975 the shoe was updated and given a bit of a makeover. And now, 35 years later, the company that have always been characterized by progress, approached Morrison to reinvent the shoe once again.

This time it was renamed “The Country Trainer” while still maintaining its functionality and “simple spirit of the original model in a more contemporary and sporty way”. Canvas fabrics and suede leather give it a sense of discrete style while the Ideal Stitching Construction adds the much-loved comfort and flexibility.
