Piet Hein Eek used his trademark of reclaimed wood to create a series of limited edition champagne cases for Ruinart.

Driven by a respect for nature and the time required for a beautiful creation, Piet Hein Eek has designed handcrafted packaging for renowned champagne makers Ruinart.

Hein Eek has designed a series of limited edition wooden boxes that are specifically contoured around the shape of Ruinart’s champagne bottles.

Drawing on his traditional trademark material of reclaimed wood, Eek used pale grey, white and cream pine wood for the creation of each box. The boxes echo and tell the tale of Ruinart’s beginnings and the company’s high regard for wood.

Guaranteeing softness, Hein Eek lightly sanded each box and covered it with a veil of fine lacquer to reveal a luxurious finish for each packaged champagne bottle.

The reclaimed wooden packaging will make its debut at the Chicago Expo from 19 to 22 September 2013.
