BarberOsgerby awarded

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have been announced as Maison et Object's Designers of the Year for 2013.

BarberOsgerby, known for their use of colour and intricate shaping of materials, have added yet another prestigious title to their already highly reputable awards list, the 2013 Maison et Objet Designers of the Year.

BarberOsgerby showcased a variety of their recent work at this year’s acclaimed Masion et Object event in Paris.

The “Western Façade” bench, designed mid 2012 for Established and Sons and the London Design Festival, is a clear representation of the designers' shaping of material to allude to a specific time, event or place. The bench features a pattern of apertures symbolising shrapnel damage caused around London as a result of bomb raids during World War II.

BarberOsgerby’s "Tobi Ishi" table for B&B Italia saw a red lacquer version for the first time. The table, inspired by ornamental stones found in Japanese gardens, is made using wood and cement grout to allude to smooth, grey pebbles. The design blends technology and handcraft through its use of unexpected materials. The designers opted for a red finish to reference their love and use of bold colours.

Other designs exhibited at Maison et Object include, the "Bell Lamp" for Louis Vuitton and pieces from their Ascent show at Haunch of Venison
