From the Series

While she is formally trained as an industrial designer at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Alexandra Fruhstorfer’s work and interests touch on multiple aspects, from politics to culture, to biology and technology.

Her Menu from the New Wild project, presented at the first-ever antenna, aptly encompasses this multidisciplinary approach.

It considers the impact of invasive species on the surrounding environment and larger ecosystems, including the harmful effects on indigenous species.

Menu from the New Wild comprises of ingredients made from alien species, and the crockery forming part of the project reveals the very species the consumer is protecting by consuming the dish.

The menu is a greater comment on humans’ need to balance and regulate the systems it brought into disarray.
