Lauren Mackler on stories and storytelling

There are different artistic formats through which to tell stories in a visual way, discovers Lauren Mackler.

In this Pecha Kucha-style presentation, French-American coach and radio show host Lauren Mackler's work interprets storytelling in various ways and analyses the different artistic mediums used to bring fantasy and the supernatural to life. For “Collecting Stories, Collective Experiences” she made a book called -Ship that takes a non-linear look at collective thinking on the theme of authorship.

I was involved in a big community of artists that were collecting all their work in what we called 'zines'. The opportunity was to find a common thread in all of our work. Out of this spirit I created -Ship... a collection of 27 artists and designers on the theme of other-ship, says Mackler.

Her “Narrative Kit” is another look at stories and storytelling, while other projects look at three-dimensional ways of presenting fiction and narratives.
