Rhys Jones recently graduated from Carleton University School of Industrial design and is now based in New York City. During his time at Carleton University he was elected to the position of president of the Carleton Industrial Design Student Association and organised various events for the students of the school. Jones also took the opportunity to widen his horizons by studying for a semester at the University of Monash Melbourne. Jones's final thesis was the design of a neonatal Kangaroo chair healthcare that won a Rocket award for user experience. This final thesis was done in partnership with Herman Miller. Jones was awarded the School of Industrial Design’s Provost Scholar award for health care product design and the George A. Lynn Memorial Scholarship for excellence in the design of medical equipment.
Jones strives to make excellent products that are sustainable and socially responsible. He believes that all products developed in the future should be tailored for human diversity and universal design. Jones is currently working at Humanscale in New York in their design department.
