Maria McCloy is a fashion influencer, publicist and designer based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Born in the UK, McCloy studied journalism at Rhodes University in Grahamstown before colliding her dreams of urban culture and media by co-creating Outrageous Records and Black Rage Productions.
McCloy worked as a publicist at Viacom Africa (MTV Base; MTV, BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon) from 2010 to January 2014.
She has handled publicity for the artist Kudzanai Chiurai; the Congolese movie Viva Riva; the South African movie Otelo Burning; stage projects at the Durban Playhouse Company; comedy shows at The Market Theatre as well as Toni Braxton and Babyface's African Tour. In addition to her media ventures and journalism on urban culture, McCloy designs shoes and clutch purses inspired by traditional African textiles and beadwork.
