Multidisciplinary artist Manthe Ribane is known for combining design, fashion, performance, music and dance, often working as DearRibane, a creative collective comprising Manthe and her siblings. Earlier in her career she toured as a dancer with Die Antwoord and has gone on to collaborate widely as a musician with the likes of Spoek Mathambo and South London-based Cape Town musician, DJ and producer Okzharp, with whom she released an album Closer Apart. Last year she and Okzharp performed at Afropunk in New York, Glastonbury, Milan Design Week, Somerset House in London, at the Cannes Lion Awards and more. She also choreographed La Maison Noir: The Gift And The Curse, a visual novel by musician and artist Petite Noir. She has recently embarked on a new venture as the creative director for ArteBotanica, an annual gathering for diversified arts in partnership with Nirox Sculpture Park, which launched in 2019. Ribane’s recent awards include a Glamour Award, a Mbokodo Award, South African Styled Award and a RedBull Award. She sees her future in the field of creative direction.
