The Jupiter Drawing Room was founded in Johannesburg in 1989 by Graham Warsop. The agency name came from a grand room in a bordello in a Guy de Maupassant short story. The Cape Town office opened its doors in 1994.
From those early days as a small, yet creative, boutique agency brand, it has grown into one of South Africa’s largest advertising groups and is recognised, both locally and globally, for its creative abilities.
The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) partnered with Design Indaba for over a decade.
As a full-service agency, Design Indaba offered Jupiter amazing opportunities to flex their creative muscle across various platforms: from creating the identity for each campaign and the application of it onto television, print, digital and PR to highly creative exhibition activations and huge installations – to name a few.
It was shaped by the sharing of a vision: to make South Africa a creative hub for excellence. Together, Jo Thomas, Executive Creative Director of Jupiter’s design department and Ravi Naidoo form the very forceful dynamo that drove the process every year.
Through the years the agency won a number of awards based on the work done for Design Indaba, based on this collaborative creative force.
