“The mantra of slow design and craftsmanship with intentionality” is how Josie Hardy describes her work process. Hardy is a young entrepreneur, currently studying brand management while building her own company, BANC.
BANC is a furniture and homeware range characterised by Hardy’s use of slim, household copper pipes and French oak wood. Hardy’s father and his father before him were avid carpenters, but Hardy says it was a chance meeting with Sean Woolsey and James Gutierrez that finally inspired her to not only tap into her design talents but to start trying to build a legacy of community upliftment and collaboration through her project - values that she would like to have embedded into the heart of her business one day. Josie also adds that she looks forward to her and BANC’s continued participation in the creative and entrepreneurial spaces in South Africa.
