Johannes Torpe is the founder of Johannes Torpe Studios. The Danish designer is an unconventional and self-trained creative in every way imaginable. He works across interior, product, lighting and graphic design. He also while also produced music and playing the drums. He is not one to conform to established boundaries.
He simply calls himself a design activist, dedicated to telling compelling and authentic stories through creativity and design.
As creative director of the studio, he infuses the team with his energy, intuitive approach and comprehensive experience from the many aspects of the design and creative industries he has worked in. He channels his unorthodox approach into building the best team in his studio and creating an environment where the designers and projects can grow to reach their full potential.
As a creative consultant, he has worked with various brands.
He was named Group Creative Director of Bang & Olufsen, injecting energy into the legendary brand, channeling his own passions for music, storytelling and brand-building. He relinquished the role in October 2015.
In 2015 and 2016 Torpe was engaged in a research fellowship at Westminster University in London, where he explored the different drivers of change that exist within a creative workplace and the challenges and strengths within a relationship-based business model.
